Motorcycle Touring

Motorcycle touring in the Pacific Northwest, Western Canada and the Western United States.

Welcome to StormRider.ca, dedicated to the promotion of safe and enjoyable motorcycle touring.
The sport of motorcycle touring is one of the most enjoyable ways to see the local, regional and even global environment. Motorcycle touring in the Pacific Northwest is made all the more enjoyable by some of the most stunning scenery and great motorcycle roads in North America.
In addition we have direct access to all of western Canada and the western United States. Included in this vast area are wonders from the Rocky Mountains, vast desert areas, high plateaus to beaches ranging from California, Vancouver Island and on up the coast to Alaska. The area has a great variety of sights, history and natural scenic wonders which are sure to please any wanderer. From ghost towns, gold rush history to some of the most fantastic natural wonders on the continent, you can find your way to an encyclopedia full of sights and experiences.

In addition to the vast number of destinations available for motorcycle touring, the area provides a nearly endless resource of roads, and routes to discover. The huge variety of roads available can (and do) fill volumes of books and thousands of webpages, however all the books and photographs truely pale in comparison to getting outside and riding the roads themselves. Whether you are planning a visit to the region or live in the area, I hope you find the information on this website useful and enjoyable. You will find photos and information from my own touring expeditions along with information I have gathered from other riders and friends. You will also find plenty of my opinions on roads, routes and my favorite destinations and a little information on planning and enjoying your own motorcycle touring experience. I will be posting routes and trip information which you may find helpful in planning your next outing. Along the way I hope to share some of my trips and destinations along with photos and information which may suggest new routes and sights to see. There is so much to see and do in the area that you could spend a lifetime travelling the countryside and still not see everything there is to offer.

What's your passion?

Whether you have a passion for the open road, twisties, nature, history, fossils, rocks or just the fresh air you will find more of all of this in your adventures along the routes and roadsides. Farming communities abound, from wine and fish to grain and vegetables there is no end to the bounty available throughout the area. Want to surf in warm water or search for seven gill sharks, head for the coast. South or north you will find some of the most wild and desolate coastline available anywhere. Camp in style or hike the Westcoast trail and see sights few people will ever enjoy, the choice is yours. Motorcycle touring is the best way to smell the fresh air, feel the outdoors and have the experience of a lifetime.

Dreaming of a luxury hotel? In the middle of nowhere? Try the Rocky Mountains, where towering peaks can even shut down your cell phone. Want to party, try one of the myriad festivals presented each summer. Love or hate the heat? Take your pick of routes to enjoy, from desert to mountain peaks, rainforest to sandy beaches, thousands of lakes, national parks, campgrounds, hotels, motels and more.

With the backbone of North America running right through the middle of the area, there are more changes in elevation, more winding roads, destination highways and untravelled paths than you can count. A new experience around every corner to find and enjoy. Motorcycle touring has truely found a home here, and there is a path to enjoy whether you are a beginner, intermediate or wise master of the road. Take the time and enjoy some of the best travel you can find on earth; get the motorcycle out of the garage, rent one, buy one and get out on the road. You'll never forget the adventure.
